photography

Before moving to the West Coast I studied Visual Art and Literature at Bennington College in Vermont, graduating in 2013. My primary focus was photography, printmaking, and poetry. I have been photographing since 2007 and shoot both analog and digital. My early mentors include Liz Deschenes and Jonathan Kline.

My approach to photography is meditative, relational, and unpretentious. It is important to me to keep my photos minimally edited, focusing on recreating the feeling of the image, amplifying the personality of each animal, plant, fungi, and landscape depicted, and revealing the relationship between myself as the photographer and my subjects.

Photography is a process that allows me to build meaningful relationship with spaces and beings. In sharing my work I hope to promote closeness with the living world as a means for cultivating a greater sense of care and dedication to sustainability.

My tools of the trade are:
Nikon d800, Crown Graphic 4x5 Press, Nikon F90X 35mm, Fuji Instax, and the occasional Holga, Rolleiflex, or Polaroid Sun 600
